The Landing Point @ Fullerton Bay Hotel

High Tea at The Landing Point, Fullerton Bay Hotel, with Mom this afternoon. Read good reviews about it, so wanted to try this place out. We got one of the 3-tier high tea set, ordered an Earl Grey for Mom and got the usual Mocha for myself. I loveeeeed their coffee!! Gotta be one of the best-tasting Mochas I've had in a while. Bliss :) And their 3-tier high tea set came with quite a wide assortment of bite-size goodies, plus it is refillable if you opt for a set each without sharing!!! The other patrons seated near us just kept refilling non-stop; I honestly cannot understand how they can take it - the bite-sized snacks were small but veryyyy filling IMO.

The 3-tier stand included both sweet and savoury light bites like Crème Brûlée, Salted Chocolate Caramel Tart, Duck Confit Crepe Roulade, Boston Lobster cornet, White truffle egg mayo on baguette, Mini Prosciutto Bagel, Smoked Salmon sandwich with caviar, Cucumber Sandwich with Ikura, Kueh Lapis, Lemon Tart and Chocolate Eclair. There were also warm scones with jam and clotted cream at the side (not pictured) that were so yummmyyyyy! And not to mention, a wide fine selection of tea was provided as well......... just that I simply cannot stomach tea :((( stomach woes, really.

Boston Lobster cornet (on Pistachio cone, I think?); White Truffle Egg Mayo on Baguette.
My two favourites!!!

Smoked Salmon Sandwich with Caviar, Cucumber Sandwich with Ikura !!!!!

Lemon Tart that had a tangy taste to it.

And Crème Brûlée!

On a side note, we were quite surprised that it was rather packed on a Wednesday afternoon - probably should make a reservation much earlier before heading there the next time round.
But overall, loving such chill afternoons with the Mom. (Y)

Cafe Hopping!

Spontaneously decided to go on a brunch/cafe-hopping affair with a couple of pals yesterday. With (no) thanks to the (unfortunate) rain and time constraints, we were only able to conquer three places on the list. :( But regardless, good company and money well-spent! Let's begin...

Loysel's Toy

First up was Loysel's Toy! Badly wanted to try this place after the recent visit to ukulele movement with my fellow uke-hipster pals hahaha. The eggs ben was so-so, as rated by C, but the coffee was gooooood. To be expected from papa palheta luh haha. The place is kinda out of the way though, located in a pretty secluded area in the depths of kampong bugis. Walking there might be a bitch (?) but oh well, you've been warned heh.

------------

Windowsill in the Woods

Next up was Windowsill in the Woods. Wanted to try this after a fellow foodie on IG posted photos of this. Their wide array of pie selection was pretty good. Pals tried the tea and some lemon-strawberry pie, which I thought was not bad! We were told that their menu changes weekly or something, correct me if I'm wrong. Just a pity that our stomachs couldn't handle for more pies... Would love to go back and try the remaining selection some time! Oh, and the interior was quirky nice - I like!

Carpenter and Cook

Last up was Carpenter and Cook. It was raining cats and dogs when we arrived, but the desserts were pretty worth the soak!!! And the interior was soooooo awesome, with all the retro vintage-like embellishments and there were also a couple of home decor/vintage knick-knacks up for sale too. Their selection was pretty good, if not for the full stomachs and tight wallets, we would have probably ordered a lot more. Loveddddd the bacon/onion quiche (sorry am a suckaaa for savoury dishes) while the pals preferred the sweeter cakes and tarts (salted caramel and passionfruit meringue tart, i think?).

---------------

And that's a sweet ending to my final recess week! Recess week had came and gone in such a flurry that I almost forgot that it will be the final recess week of my entire academic life. Nevertheless, recess week has been well-spent. It's kinda satisfying to know how my 2013 mantra has been religiously adhered to. #YOLO. For now, allow me to relish in my final recess week moments.... Ahhh this bittersweet feeling - when have we all grown up this fast?! Time really passes by too quickly for comfort...

Alright time to get back to serious business (this journal entry was drawn up in the midst of completing my FYP report) - oh writing, thou art a heartless bitch; regret the times I didn't put in as much effort into reading and improving my writing... laziness comes back to bite in the ass. SUCH A CHORE. Help me to organize my thoughts right? All I can think about is food. Dying, dying...

Penny University

Penny U with the Lion King a couple weeks back before she left for Aussie. Headed there cos' it was just so near to both of our places. But the food was rather disappointing. There wasn't much choices on the menu, and my Turkish eggs were a little too exotic-tasting for my liking. (chilli oil + sourcream = super bad recipe for the downfall of my tummy) Settled with espresso, kinda disappointed that they didn't have my favourite must-have Mocha on their pretty simple coffee menu :( Maybe I should try out the desserts the next time, looked pretty good on the display; but overall a pretty cosy cafe for a chill afternoon!! More brunch places in the East please! ^^
